Top 10 Reasons to Join a Mastermind Group...

Conversations with one person can only go so far in gaining a broader perspective. Internal team discussions can sometimes become routine. We grow intellectually by sharing insights with others and bouncing ideas off of each other. We gain perspective when we can see a problem with a fresh set of eyes. This is why mastermind groups have grown in popularity as an integral part of any successful business. But what exactly are mastermind groups, and why do experts recommend that entrepreneurs, and business leaders join a mastermind group?

Mastermind groups are an active group of team oriented people who desire more from their own leadership, career and company. A peer advisory group or mastermind team serves as a MOTIVATOR and ultimately a catalyst that levels a leader up. Think about having a team that serves as your personal board of advisors, in an environment that allows you to receive feedback to grow your thinking, problem solve, or ideate.

In an article, Mastermind Groups: Harnessing the Power of Collective Wisdom, written by the Mind Tools Content Team on Mindtools.com, some interesting historical examples were provided, suggesting that successful masterminding with like-minded peers leads to significant growth. For example, Andrew Carnegie, originally poor, went on to become one of the wealthiest industrialists. He knew absolutely nothing about steel manufacturing early in his career, but fifty years later sold his Carnegie Steel Company for $480 million, which today equates to about $13.6 billion. He attributes that success to the "collective intelligence" of his team of advisors, or his "mastermind."

Another example in the same article, cited Franklin D. Roosevelt's Brain Trust. President Roosevelt, serving at the time of the Great Depression, formed a "team of academics" to assemble and solve economic problems, at which time the team designed the New Deal. Not without controversy, the deal created some financial regulations, established some public works projects and provided some large scale relief. However, the collaborative effort is credited for the economy not falling into an even deeper recession. John Murphy, founder of Survivalist Inc. recently stated in his Forbes article, "Your close-knit group can give you new ideas to tackle issues you struggle to figure out on your own. They give you new perspectives and challenge you to approach challenges with an open mind. It’s like a think tank for your business."

Fall of 2023, The Quality Coach® will launch the TQC Collaborative, which will provide opportunities for leaders, at various levels, to join a mastermind group that best meets their needs. Keep scrolling for the Top 10 Reasons to Join a Mastermind Group!
